but there is a huge, i mean HUUGE foreshadowing early on, and somewhere in the middle, there is another foreshadowing/explanation which IMO kills the element of surprise/twist, when the characters met for the second time she didnt hide her skill, she just shows it to him & he understands because of the huge foreshadowing early on.

moving on to the next bit
because of what both of them did, some stuff happens and after she was told by another character about something then she told him that "something" is happening to her
reaching the climax of the story, he confesses to her, she ask his wish, she granted his wish but he changes his mind and blame himself for that "wish" and try to "turn things back as it were"
oh also i should mention that this movie plays a lot with morals during the climax, and its that bit which plays with your emotion
Art/Animation
its very good and there are lots of attention to detail
but still, because the setting is on a capital city, there is not much creative freedom before it doesnt look like a capital city, unlike your name, which has more freedom because countryside, and the setting/weather, i know right, very obvious) most of the time its gloomy and rainy but it fits the theme for most part of the movie (again obvious)
one thing i hate the most is the cut to black with a "long" interval, because it tends to switch a scene which is bright AF without any fading, its blinding
sound/soundtrack:
i like it, but then again its personal opinion by this point, it fits the "gloomy&rainy" style of the movie but your name OST is better & more memorable IMO, sound design in pretty much excellent as i cant really see a flaw in it, like the visuals, there are lots of attention to detail
final thoughts:
its a solid movie, the ending is pretty much a clear happy ending romance wise but a huge "ummm" for the consequences to get that happy ending and its kinda depressing but the side characters tries to convice the protagonist that "the world is a crazy place" and not their fault
i kinda like this ending, its clear, not indecisive like your name,
the shots of the city near the ending is a possible worst case scenario of what could happen if we just keep doing what we are doing and do nothing to try to change the global climate.

It is important to read Mulvey to really know what this means.

For me this is easily on of the best movies of the 2010s. Best comes last., right?
I went into this movie with really high expectations because of the really high audience and critic ratings. Something I don't normally do and something I wouldn't advise others to do. But this movie surpassed my expectations on every level.
Is it slow? Yes. But if you've seen the trailer before watching the movie that's what you expect. But it has to be slow. This is a movie about emotions. There isn't alot of real "story" to it. And not every movie has to have the thickest story.
But when you don't have story, you have to get everything right that you're going for. This movie went for a powerful atmosphere and a heartbreaking but beatiful lovestory.
When you watch the movie, after 20 minutes you will know that it does not have a happy ending. It takes a look at arranged marriages and how women of that time couldn't really do anything against it. It was just normal. Noone cared about what they wanted. So it is very clear, this movie will be sad.
But is it though? Not as much as you might think. This movie is alot about remembering. About up upholding memories.
The ending of the movie left me with some of the longest goosebumps I have ever had. It is so beautifully done and with such attention to detail.
But the ending would not work as well without the fabulous acting of the two young actresses, they really carried this movie. And they had to be good.
This movie has alot of silence, alot of not talking, it's very raw, but never boring. And the reason why that works is 1) the fabulous script, but 2) mainly the actresses performance.
Truly a movie I will not forget any time soon.
Well done.

Movie Watch O informado. From the team that brought you Sicario comes another drug fuelled thriller with an amazing cast although set in the USA was filmed on location in the UK And is a UK production.
Rosamund Pike plays 'Emily Blunt' who was missing from Sicario 2 hence why that was so poor in comparison to the first.
This one is based on the Polish mafia operating in NYC.
Good tension, good story, great acting, stand out performance for me was the rapper Common as the NYPD detective with the street cred and look to make him a star in his own right.
Central to the theme was family and the love of man for his wife and daughter and vice versa caught up in a web of crime he never deserved to be in.
It's one those films where the natural good guys and bad guys were twisted to make it more interesting
An enjoyable film with a little bit of violence but appropriate to the plot.
Worth seeing.

Hvíter Hvíter Dager, Iceland's Oscar entry for Best Foreign Film this year, is a quiet, mature look at grief and memory. It is about a man who carries within him a love so pure, he struggles to understand anything else. It is about refusing to let go of the version of someone you want to hold onto forever.
The narrative slowly unravels like a novel as themes are explored through nuance and metaphor. The delicate dealing with love lost recalls Lee Chang-dong's Secret Sunshine and Céline Sciamma's Portrait de La Jeune Fille en Feu, regarding the myth of Orpheus and Eurydice. The cinematography, shot in a noticeably textured 35mm, is peculiar in the way it involves the setting and keeps us a certain physical distance from the characters. I think Michael Haneke would be proud of this film.
The central character Ingimunder's relationship with his granddaughter Salka serves the film in predictable but endearing ways. Strong child acting is often taken for granted, but Ída Mekkín Hlynsdóttir's performance is far from typical. It is also a testament to both fine direction (Hlynur Palmason) and strong casting because the two leads are almost irreplaceable and truly contribute to make the film something special.
A White, White Day is enriched by its simplicity and singularity as it takes on heavy themes. The characters are real, the story is thoughtfully restrained, and the ending is remarkable. One of the more memorable films of the year.

Filmspråket er jordnært og renskårent, og filmen snirkler seg avgårde i et langsomt tempo – i alle fall i starten – og innbyr til dveling ved både karakterer og den karrige, storslåtte naturen. Litt typisk islandsk, kanskje. Men under overflaten ulmer det som sagt av sterke følelser, og gradvis avdekkes en hevnhistorie som etter hvert får svært dramatiske følger for de involverte. Politimannen Ingimundur har blitt enkemann etter at kona mistet livet i en trafikkulykke. Han prøver å reise seg opp igjen mentalt, bygger nytt hus og ønsker mest av alt å holde fast på de tette båndene til barnebarnet Salka, som han setter høyere enn alt og alle. Men når Ingimundur får nyss om at kona i sin tid var utro med en bekjent i bygda, blir han besatt av hevntanker og begir seg ut på en tokt som det kanskje ikke finnes noen vei tilbake fra. En hvit, hvit dag er en sterk og stundom poetisk fortelling om sorg, hevn, ansvar og menneskelig irrasjonalitet. Filmen har en flott spenningsoppbygging og man værer hele tiden den underliggende uroen og de mørke tankene som griper fatt i hovedpersonen, for øvrig ypperlig spilt av rutinerte Ingvar Sigurdsson. Gode miljø -og karaktertegninger er filmens største styrker, og regissør Hlynur Palmason har også gjort plass til et par opplagte men likefult elegante metaforer; en rullende stein som ramler utfor klippen og ned i det dype havet som et symbol på Ingimundurs situasjon.
